The Jersey Tri Club has organised standard distance (1500m Swim, 40km Bike, 10km Run) triathlon events annually since 1986 and this years race is set to be a great weekend building on the success of previous years events.

This triathlon is aimed at all levels of ability, whether it's your first triathlon or you are the next Olympic hopeful. You can enter as an individual and complete all three disciplines on your own or enter the relay event with friends or colleagues and enjoy the race as a team.

Who can take part?

The event is open to men and women of varied experience through novices, intermediates and experienced Triathletes, together with those wishing to form a team of 2 or 3 individuals. There is no official cut off time however the JTC requests that all competitors enter with the intention of completing the Olympic distance in less than 4 hours.

Race Registration and Transition Area

Race registration venue and times will be confirmed in due course. It is vital that all competitors attend. There will be no race briefing on the Sunday morning prior to the race. The Transition area will also be at Bel Royal in the tarmaced car park and will be open on Sunday 2nd September 2012 (race day), at 05:30 a.m. and will close at 06:45 a.m. Cycles must be in a road worthy condition and will be checked along with your helmet on race day.

The Individual Triathlon

This is open to anyone over the age of 17 (on 31/12/11). You must complete all three disciplines with no outside assistance. Your time will be taken from when you start the swim to when you finish the run.

The Relay Triathlon

A team can comprise two or three individuals. The team will form a relay and will race on the same course as the individuals. Teams can be all male, all female or mixed. The cyclist only must be over 17 years of age at 31st Dec 2011, the cycle being on open roads.

The swimmer must tag the cyclist in the transition area where the bike is racked.
Only then can the cyclist un-rack their bike and proceed out of transition.

The cyclist must rack their bike first and, having done so, proceed to the
transition exit where the runner should be waiting.

Race Facilities

There is ample parking near transition with toilets and refreshments. The transition is situated on a tarmacked area 100m from the sea.

Race Rules

The event will be held under the rules of the British Triathlon Association. As always, your bicycle must be in roadworthy condition and an approved cycle helmet must be worn. A BTA referee will be present throughout the day. Cycle helmets must be fastened before un-racking the bike, worn throughout the bike leg, and not unfastened and removed until the bike is racked back in transition. The race is non-drafting and draft busters will be patrolling the bike course and will be under instruction to issue a time penalty.

Race withdrawal

If you withdraw from the race at any point please inform a time-keeper, marshall or race official. It is important that we are aware of all competitors’ whereabouts due to the length of the course.

Spectators

Spectators are welcome to watch the event. The best viewing spot for the swim is next to the transition area overlooking the bay. For bike viewing please see the course map attached on the course details page. The run course consists of 2 laps along the front to St Aubin and back, thus ensuring that there will be plenty of opportunities to cheer on competitors.
